Dr. Violina Frenkel, M.D. is a board-certified psychiatrist and the Medical Director of Integrative Behavioral Care in Summit, New Jersey, where she provides comprehensive psychiatric care for adolescents (13 and up), adults, and older adults. A Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, she is licensed to practice in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and Florida.
Dr. Frenkel is known for her integrative approach to mental health, combining conventional psychiatry with the latest research on genetics, metabolism, and nutrition. She has devoted her career to educating colleagues, clinicians, and patients on how integrative strategies can profoundly affect mental wellness. Her clinical work spans a wide range of conditions, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, ADHD, eating disorders, and addiction, and she is specially licensed to prescribe Suboxone, Subutex, and Buprenorphine for the treatment of opioid dependence.
In her practice, Dr. Frenkel develops highly personalized, multifaceted treatment plans that may include medication management, psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy, genetic testing, and neuromodulation. She offers Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Spravato (intranasal esketamine) for treatment-resistant depression, and she works closely with a network of therapists to coordinate comprehensive care. She is a member of the Caucus on Complementary, Alternative, and Integrative Medicine and the Institute for Functional Medicine.
Dr. Frenkel earned her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine and completed her residency in adult psychiatry at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, with additional training in child and adolescent psychiatry and a psychoanalytic fellowship at NYU. She is fluent in English and Russian.
